I installed my full version of LitePXP version 7. I used it to create a runme.exe that runs DokuWiki on a flash drive. I plan to use DokuWiki on the flash drive to keep all my various notes that I used to write on paper. I also installed phpmyadmin on the flash drive to make it easy to administrate mySQL. Everything seems to be working fine. I'm sure there are several other php applications that I will be installing on the flash drive. I also will be using it during development of my own PHP projects. Why LitePXP was made?

Every year on the place where I work, it's usual to create a small magazine with all the relevant events and pictures of the things that we've doing over the year. We do a small party and distribute this magazine to the guests and send it out to our friends that are far away.

Since last year (2007), we moved away from a printed version of this annual magazine and decided to create a DVD version which allowed to include far more pictures and also attach small movies, opinion articles, etc, etc.

This year (2008), we could have done the same thing, but HTML is simply too simple to work and doesn't allow any scripting features for more advanced features so I started thinking about using PHP.

Running PHP on a machine usually requires to install something like XAMPP and install a program as service but I wanted this to be a "click & go" process since most machines don't have admin permissions. Other programs that I found around the web didn't had a simple configuration nor included a web browser so I decided to just make one myself.

And the result is LitePXP. Helps you put PHP website on CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive to run without the internet.
